West Brom vs Leeds predictions and match preview

It is no surprise to see the top of the Championship table look close at this stage, and that looks set to continue with a whole host of clubs involved.

Leeds come into this weekend at the top of the Championship table, although Sheffield United will go top with a win on Friday night over their city rivals Sheffield Wednesday.

West Brom are outside of the playoffs right now, but only by one point, and they are just five behind Leeds at the top. As expected, there are a whole host of clubs involved in the running right now, and the Championship looks as though it will be as tight as ever.

When is West Brom vs Leeds?

Competition: Championship

Venue: The Hawthorns

Date: Saturday 10th November

Kick-Off: 5:30pm BST

Match Preview

Leeds started off on fire and quickly moved to the top of the league. A slight dip in form took them off top spot, but they go into this weekend back on top of the pile. They are unbeaten in their last three and overall they have lost just two of their opening 16 Championship games.

West Brom were among the favourites for promotion to the Premier League after relegation from the top flight last season. They changed a number of players, and look as though they are ready to contend at the first time of asking. A poor recent run has seen them fall down the table a little because they have lost three of their last four games, a run they will want to end here.

Where Can I Watch Live?

This game is the tea time kick-off on Saturday in the Championship, so it is live on Sky Sports Football. This is channel number 403 on Sky and 513 on Virgin Media.

Do Leeds have the mental strength for promotion?

We have seen Leeds challenge for promotion a number of times over the past few seasons, but they always seem to fall away when the pace picks up. They are certainly big enough to look at home in the Premier League, but do they have the right mental strength to get promotion? Do Leeds really believe that it is their year this year, or do they expect to fade away once more? Having the right attitude and mental strength is almost as important as having the right quality in a league like the Championship.

Too many changes for West Brom to bounce straight back?

We have seen a few clubs bounce straight back into the Premier League at the first time of asking and that is what West Brom are trying to do this season. However, that is a feat usually reserved for the very best teams, or those who make minimal changes during the summer. West Brom have made quite a few changes this season, and that could be what prevents them from jumping back up at the first attempt, but time will tell.

Is the Championship the hardest promotion league in the world?

We are not suggesting that the Championship is the best league in terms of quality here, but as far as leagues with promotion goes, is the Championship the hardest to get out of? This season is just like any other, and almost half of the clubs feel like they have a genuine chance of promotion. Just three go up, two automatic and one through the playoffs, does that make this league the hardest in the world to get out of?

Head to Head

This will be the first time these two have met each other in over 10 years, and West Brom have won the last three meetings.

West Brom wins: 32 Leeds wins: 34 Draws: 18

Team News

Leeds go into the clash this weekend without four players. Luke Ayling has been ruled out for two months and he joins Gaetano Beradi, Patrick Bamford and and Izzy Brown.

The news is better for West Brom, they hope to have Gareth Barry, Kieran Gibbs and Dwight Gayle available, leaving just Chris Brunt as the only absentee

Squawka Prediction

Two of the best teams in the Championship go head to head here, but Leeds are in far better form than West Brom right now so we are backing them to record an important away win to remain top of the Championship.

Predictions & Betting Tips

1. Leeds to Win @ 13/8

Leeds go into the weekend at the top of the Championship, and with a three game unbeaten run. They were very impressive last weekend against Wigan and with West Brom looking a little out of form at the moment, we think the Whites can pick up three points here.

2. Total Goals Over 2.5 @ 5/7

One thing you can guarantee from Leeds is that they will attack and try to win this game. With West Brom highly likely to do the same in front of their home fans, this should turn out to be a very competitive, high scoring game.

Key Stat: Leeds have scored at least once in every one of their last six games

3. Pablo Hernandez to Score at Anytime @ 2/1

Anyone who saw the Leeds game against Wigan last weekend will have seen an exception performance from Pablo Hernandez. He controlled the game, looked lively and created many opportunities for his team, as well as scoring the first goal of the game for them. We are backing him to do the same again this week, and terrorise this West Brom defence.
