Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri feels Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini made a telling difference in their Champions League match in Turin.
The Italians defeated Jose Mourinho’s side 1-0 at Old Trafford last month, with Allegri’s side showcasing their dominance over the Premier League outfit. Wednesday night saw the reverse fixture take place, in which Mourinho got the last laugh as his side stole a last-minute turnaround to defeat Juventus 2-1 in Turin.
Absent from the first game was Belgium midfielder Fellaini, who was a notable danger in last night’s fixture upon his introduction for Alexis Sanchez in the 79th minute.
Speaking to reporters after the match, according to the Manchester Evening News, Allegri said: “In the first game, they didn’t have Fellaini and we used his absence to our advantage.
“Tonight, he played and his physical presence was immediately felt. He controlled some high balls, although sometimes we were good at playing the ball on the ground.
“Conceding those free-kicks was our greatest mistake. That happened and we paid the price.
“We’ll have to learn from that.”

Juventus took the lead when former Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo finshed first time from a pass over his shoulder to blast the Italians in front. However, a superb Juan Mata free-kick and a late mix-up which resulted in an own goal by Leonardo Bonucci own goal gifted United the three points after an improved display by Mourinho’s men in contrast to the reverse match.
The result leaves Juventus are still top of Group H with nine points, with United close behind on seven, Valencia on five points and Young Boys bottom with a single point to their name.
