Real Madrid president Perez says he wants to sign Mbappe and Neymar

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has said he hopes ‘both’ Kylian Mbappe and Neymar join the Spanish club in the future.

Both players currently play for French side Paris Saint-Germain who top the Ligue 1 table.

Can Real Madrid really sign both Mbappe and Neymar? Five key things to know…

  1. Real Madrid have won the last three Champions League trophies.
  2. Paris Saint-Germain failed to get past the round of 16 again this season.
  3. Neymar has admitted that Real Madrid is an ‘attractive option’.
  4. Perez hopes Mbappe could be influenced by Zinedine Zidane’s return to the club.
  5. The Real Madrid president hopes ‘both’ players will join in the future.

Real Madrid have reappointed Zinedine Zidane as manager after a poor season in which they lost in the Champions League knock-out stages to Dutch side Ajax and have failed to mount a serious title challenge.

The club have struggled to replace star man Cristiano Ronaldo, who left to join Italian side Juventus in the summer. This departure could pave way for Los Blancos to bring in a big signing of their own this summer and Neymar has already been linked with a move in the past.

Mbappe is also known to have been a target of the European Champions and Perez did, albeit jovially, admit that having Zidane as manager might benefit Real in their chase for the French star.

“Zidane’s French so maybe he could do something with Mbappe,” Perez told reporters as reported via Goal.

The international sensation is still only 20-years-old but had revealed that he is currently happy playing for PSG.

“I’m very happy with how things are going for me at Paris Saint-Germain,” he said earlier this season.

“I’m under contract until 2021 and so now’s not the moment to think about anything else.”

Neymar is also thought to be an attractive proposition for Real and there was even talk that the Brazilian might be tempted to join the club this summer. The Spanish giant were forced to deny the fact they had made a bid of €310 million for the player after reports suggested they were ready to break their transfer record to sign the PSG forward.

Florentino Perez, though, still hopes Neymar could join Real in the future and when asked who he would prefer between the Brazilian and Mbappe he simply replied: “Both.”

Can Zidane rebuild Real’s reputation?

The Frenchman has signed a contract with Los Blancos that will run until the summer of 2022.

This suggests the club are going to back their former boss to bring the kind of success that they took for granted during his previous stint in charge.

Both Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari have failed to live up to expectations at the Bernabeu and returning to a man who brought the club one La Liga title and three Champions League trophies could have the desired effect.

If they do make some big-name signings over the summer then it is not hard to see Zidane turning the club around quickly which is what the fans will be hoping for.
