Manchester City forward Leroy Sane has dismissed reports linking him with a shock move to Manchester United.
Sane has had to battle for his place in the City starting XI this season, with Pep Guardiola having a wealth of attacking talent at his disposal, including Raheem Sterling, Riyad Mahrez and Bernardo Silva.
However, the German international started in the Citizens’ 6-1 demolition of Southampton on Sunday with Sane getting himself on the scoresheet.
That goal brought his tally to three goals in four starts this season and after the game, Sane was quick to dampen any suggestion that he will be switching sky blue for red any time soon.
He told reporters, via Goal: “That won’t happen at all. I am really happy here and I’m on the right side!”
Despite having to wait for his starts this season, Sane also believes it is really important that Man City have plenty of players who can get on the scoresheet, rather than relying on one or two goalscorers.
“It’s so important not to just have one or two players who score the goals,” Sane said. “Maybe one day they don’t score, and then the team doesn’t score at all.
“It’s a big strength for us that anyone can score the goals, and we have that hunger. But we also have a hunger to give each other assists, it makes things easier.”
Guardiola’s side face their Manchester rivals at the Etihad on Sunday and, according to Sane, the Catalan manager’s strong demands mean the City players will remain in prime focus for any challenge that comes their way.
“In our team, we have players of good character who always want to win, always hungry, always want to improve, score goals, give assists and have a clean sheet,” he continued.
“And we have a coach who keeps telling us we need to improve, improve, make more clean sheets, make less mistakes, and be more careful.
“It makes us so hungry to win the game and to score a lot of goals.”
Man City’s 6-1 win against Southampton leaves them top of the Premier League table, unbeaten and with 29 points so far, two clear of Liverpool and Chelsea.
