Paul Pogba: I’m being silenced by threat of Man Utd fine

Paul Pogba says he would be fined if he expresses his true feelings regarding his current situation at Manchester United.

The 25-year-old French international, who became a World Cup winner this summer, was heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford.

However, nothing came of Barcelona’s reported interest, and Pogba played a pivotal role in United’s opening day Premier League win over Leicester City.

But the free-spirited midfielder wouldn’t be drawn into discussing whether he is unsettled.

“There are things, and there are things that I cannot say, otherwise I will get fined,” he told reporters (via ESPN).

Pogba returned to United from Juventus, where he lifted four Serie A titles, in the summer of 2016 for a then world record fee of £89m.

His first season under Jose Mourinho culminated with collecting two major pieces of silverware: the League Cup and Europa League.

The following campaign saw him being heavily scrutinised which led to him describing himself as the most criticised player in the world.

To date, across his second stint at Old Trafford, he’s featured in no fewer than 89 matches registering 16 goals and 18 assists so far including a goal in the 2-1 win over Leicester on Friday – in which he captained the side.
