The Premier League is set to introduce the use of Video Assistant Referees (VAR) next season, with the clubs agreeing in principle to the move.

How Twitter reacted to Richard Scudamore’s Premier League leaving gift
It has been a busy time for the Premier League, especially with the recent news that Premier League clubs were planning to donate £250,000 each toward a £5m parting gift for Richard Scudamore, who is stepping down from the head of the league next month after 19 years at the helm.
Commenting on his departure back in June, Scudamore told the Premier League’s official website: “It’s an absolute privilege to have been allowed to enjoy this role for so long, it is too much fun to be called a job. Football is an intoxicating environment and therefore difficult to give up being so involved, but my passion for what football means to so many and the positive impact it can make will never diminish.”
Despite Scudamore’s work for the Premier League over the past two decades, it is clear that fans and bloggers alike are not impressed by the supposed leaving bonus.
“Not good enough,” wrote Jay McKenna, who chairs Liverpool supporters group Spirit of Shankly, as it was reported Reds CEO Peter Moore refused to comment on whether his club had directly contributed to the ‘golden handshake’.
Not good enough. But maybe whilst on the train, you could let us know @PeterMooreLFC? https://t.co/xIWb9RsHXD

Other fans were equally unimpressed.
Asking Fulham, Cardiff and Wolves to pay Richard Scudamore £250,000 each is like when Ross moved into his building in Friends and was immediately asked to chip in $100 for the retiring handyman

Sorry but I find this disgusting & @Arsenal if you contribute to this I hold you in exactly the same regard. The premier League itself is loaded so they can pay it

If this £5 million gift to Richard Scudamore happens and doesn’t get passed down to grass roots a boycott of the premier league must seriously be contemplated by all

Meanwhile, in an official statement on their website, Burnley confirmed that the ‘arrangements’ for Scudamore’s departure had been agreed and divulged information about how the clubs were rationalising the payments.
Their statement read: “The Premier League has today agreed the arrangements for Richard Scudamore stepping down from his role as Executive Chairman.
