Player ratings: Spurs seal draw thanks to two 4/10 Arsenal displays

Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal played out an entertaining 1-1 draw in the 198th north London derby at Wembley Stadium.

Aaron Ramsey, bound for Juventus in the summer, put Unai Emery’s side in front – yet another goal at English football’s spiritual home – before a Harry Kane penalty ensured the spoils would be shared.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who started on the bench, though could have won it from the spot in the 90th minute. An incredible moment that was followed by Lucas Torreira’s sending off.

Here are how the players rated.

Tottenham Hotspur

Hugo Lloris – 7 – Not been the greatest week for the French shot-stopper, redeemed himself with a brilliant save to deny a 90th minute Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang penalty.

Kieran Trippier – 5 – Always providing an outlet in his favoured wing-back role, didn’t allow his error against Chelsea in midweek to affect him.

Davinson Sánchez – 4 – Still young, so prone to the odd mistake. His mistimed interception led to Arsenal’s opener.

Toby Alderweireld – 5 – Never found himself defending one-on-one and could have even popped up with a goal.

Jan Vertonghen – 5 – Occasionally move into central midfield, to help Spurs’ build-up play, but rarely found the killer pass.

Danny Rose – 6 – Kept venturing forward but never got the reward his endeavor deserved.

Victor Wanyama – 5 – A rare start for the tenacious Kenyan midfielder, who made his presence felt early on.

Moussa Sissoko – 6 – Occasionally joined the attack from central midfield, thought he registered a goal but was superbly denied by Leno.

Christian Eriksen – 7 – Spurs’ fulcrum and was their most serious attacking threat, the Gunners did well to nullify him when they could.

Harry Kane – 6 – Thought he equalised twice, before equalising from the penalty spot. Despite not seeming to be at 100%, following his return from a serious ankle injury, he remain a potent force in this fixture.

Son Heung-min – 5 – Never stopped running and causing problems to Arsenal’s backline though it was another rare unproductive outing.

Substitutes:

Erik Lamela (on for Victor Wanyama 60) – 4 – Found himself in Anthony Taylor’s book three minutes after coming on.

Fernando Llorente (on for Son Heung-min 79) – N/A – A late sub.

Arsenal

Bernd Leno – 6 – Made a stunning save to deny Harry Kane and then Moussa Sissoko minutes before half-time.

Shkodran Mustafi – 4 – An eye-catching tactical decision by Emery to field Mustafi at right-back, though no stranger to playing there it’s been awhile, so it wasn’t a surprise that he looked like a fish out of water at times. Gave away a controversial penalty which lead to Kane’s leveling the score.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos – 7 – A veteran of heated rivalries the Greek international showcased his experience and was Arsenal’s most assured defender.

Laurent Koscielny – 5 – Slightly back to his best, marshalled the Gunners backline astutely to keep Kane and co at bay.

Nacho Monreal – 6 – Came in for the more attack-minded Sead KolaÅ¡inac, his more disciplined approach benefited Emery’s men.

Matteo Guendouzi – 5 – A surprise selection given Lucas Torreira’s availability, played enthusiastically before making way for the Uruguayan just at half-time.

Granit Xhaka – 5 – Was fortunate not to go into the referee’s book, or even worse, following a dangerous challenge on Kane.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan – 6 – The defensive side of his game shone today on the back off a brilliant attacking displaying against Bournemouth.

Aaron Ramsey – 7 – Expertly finished in his final north London derby, the Welshman continues to be a man for the big occasions.

Alex Iwobi – 6 – Started uncomfortably but grew into the game; saw a shot decently saved by Lloris.

Alexandre Lacazette – 5 – Prefered to lead the line ahead of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and twice could have bagged a goal before making his way for the ex-BVB man before the hour mark.

Substitutes:

Lucas Torreira (on for Matteo Guendouzi 46) – 5 – Introduced to do a job on the ever-dangerous Eriksen, earned a straight red following a challenge on Rose in stoppage time, didn’t impact on the result.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (on for Alexandre Lacazette 56) – 4 – Missed a spot kick, which he fourtuanly won, in the 90th minute.

Mesut Özil (on for Aaron Ramsey 72) – 5 – Couldn’t get himself in the game, a stark contrast to Ramsey’s energy.
