PSG deny £100m bid for Spurs playmaker Christian Eriksen

Paris Saint-Germain have categorically denied tabling a bid for Tottenham playmaker Christian Eriksen

Speculation had been gaining traction in recent weeks that the Parisians were preparing to lodge a bid for the Danish midfielder, but those rumours have been quashed by the club.

Eriksen is an integral component to Mauricio Pochettino’s system, and the 26-year-old has established himself as one of the north London club’s key players since signing in 2013.

The Ligue 1 outfit recruited former Borussia Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel over the summer, but have endured a relatively quiet transfer window, and with less than a week until the European window shuts, Premier League players could still leave English soil.

However, with the English window not open again until January, Spurs will be keen to hold onto their star acquisitions, as bringing in an immediate replacement would not be possible until the winter.

Pochettino will now be resting easy after PSG released a statement ending speculation that they have lodged a £100m bid for Eriksen, stating that the club “categorically denies the transfer rumours regarding a potential transfer of Christian Eriksen” adding that the reports “seem to ignore the current reality of the transfer market.”

Spurs lock horns with Manchester United this evening at Old Trafford.
