Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke has admitted he would love to see Borussia Dortmund captain Marco Reus at the club.
Reus has been at Dortmund since 2012, joining from Borussia Monchengladbach, and quickly became a big part of the Schwarzgelben revolution.
While many of Dortmund’s big-name players have moved on to other clubs, with Robert Lewandowski and Mario Gotze – who he has since returned – leaving for Bayern Munich and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang joining Arsenal, Reus has stayed put.
And while he would welcome Reus to Atleti with open arms, Koke has admitted he admires the German for his loyalty to Dortmund.
“I would like to have him in our team,” he told Sport Bild.
“I really like his playing style. He is so fast, so strong at dribbling, so dangerous, so unpredictable.
“And what impresses me even more: He had so many offers, but he stayed with Borussia Dortmund.
“This kind of club loyalty is not often seen in football anymore.”
Koke takes his Atletico side to the Westfalenstadion to face Dortmund on Wednesday evening with both sides looking to take control of their Champions League group, having each won their first two matches against Monaco and Club Brugge.
Marco Reus’ Dortmund career so far
Joining Dortmund in 2012, Reus wasted little time in acclimatising himself to his new club, forming a frightening attacking partnership alongside Gotze and Lewandowski – scoring 19 goals in his debut campaign.
And while his teammates would eventually move on, Reus stayed put and has played himself into almost-legendary status with the fans.
The German forward has had opportunities to move away from Dortmund, but stuck with the club as they have with him, as injury problems hampered just how far Reus could have gone in football.
In total, Reus has played 215 games for Dortmund across all competitions scoring 103 goals, being named official club captain in the summer.
