A teenager has written his name into the history books in Paraguay by scoring in the country’s biggest club fixture.
Fernando Ovelar, who is just 14 years old, scored the opening goal for Cerro Porteno in their Primera Division match against arch-rivals Olimpia – dubbed the Superclasico.
The goal came just a week after Ovelar, who is two months away from turning 15, made his senior debut for Cerro Porteno.
Ovelar is the youngest player to have featured in the Paraguayan Primera Division and therefore the youngest goalscorer in the division’s history.

The game would ultimately end 2-2, including an injury-time goal for both sides as the match stretched to 103 minutes.
Cerro Porteno and Olimpia also had a man sent off each in injury time as Olimpia kept their lead at the top of the table to seven points after 17 games.
The Paraguayan Superclasico
Like many Superclasicos, or regular Clasicos, Cerro Porteno vs Olimpia pits the two most successful clubs in Paraguay against each other.
Olimpia are current league leaders, defending champions and the most successful side in the history of the Primera Division having won the title 41 times in total.
Cerro, on the other hand, have won the Primera Division 32 times in their history, finishing runners-up on 31 occasions.
