Liverpool have the chance to take a big step towards qualification for the Champions League knockout stage when they head to Serbia to take on Red Star Belgrade.
The Reds currently sit top of Group C with two wins and one defeat from their opening three games. With Napoli and PSG facing each other on Tuesday, Liverpool will have a chance to extend their lead at the top over at least one of those teams. Red Star Belgrade have yet to pick up a win and are bottom of this group, as expected.

When is Red Star Belgrade vs Liverpool?
Competition: Champions League
Venue: Rajko Mitic Stadium
Date: Tuesday 6th November
Kick-Off: 5:55pm BST
Match Preview
Liverpool can take a big step forward with a win here and put the pressure on Napoli and PSG before they kick off at 8pm on the same night. A win will take Liverpool to nine points after four games, and put them in pole position with two games to go. Those games come against Napoli and PSG, so they can’t really afford a slip up here in Serbia.
Red Star Belgrade were always expected to struggle in this group so it is no surprise they are currently bottom of the table. However, a surprise draw with Napoli on the opening night of action shows that they can trouble teams when playing at home. Liverpool need to be wary of that, and that will no doubt have been the message from Jurgen Klopp ahead of the clash.
A 4-0 victory for Liverpool when these two sides met at Anfield shows the gulf in class here. This will be a different test for the Reds, but if they can concentrate on playing their game, they are by far the better team here and should be picking up a valuable three points.
Where Can I Watch Live?
Liverpool’s trip to Serbia to face Red Star Belgrade can be viewed on BT Sport 3 by residents in the UK. This is channel number 417 on Sky, number 533 on Virgin and 410 on BT.
The game is also available to watch on fuboTV.
Can Liverpool Repeat Last Season’s Champions League Success?
Liverpool have improved again during the summer and there is every chance they could repeat their final appearance of last season. Playing cup football suits Liverpool, and when it comes to European nights, there is no doubt that Anfield is one of the best stadiums in the continent. With a couple of key additions, and better squad depth, Liverpool look poised to go far in this competition again.
Are Liverpool Genuine Threats to Manchester City in the Premier League?
Many people believe Manchester City are the favourites to lift the Premier League title once again, but what about those behind them? Liverpool are emerging as the most likely challenger, but can they push City all the way until the end of the season? While Liverpool may have the quality to beat anyone, including City, on their day, they may lack the quality and intensity needed to be better Manchester City across a 38-game season.
Does the Champions League have Too Many Clubs in the Groups?
The Champions League was originally a competition for each league winner, however, it has expanded into a huge tournament. While the qualifying rounds are fine for smaller clubs to be involved in, do we have too many teams in the Champions League group stages? We all want to see the best teams taking each other on, and competitive football at the highest level. Arguably the inclusion of teams like Red Star Belgrade takes something away from that and makes the competition less appealing.
Head-to-Head
The meeting between these two in October was the first time they have met since the 1970’s. In total, they have played just three times, with Red Star Belgrade currently holding the upper hand.

Team News
One player who won’t be appearing for Liverpool is their midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri. He has been left at home by Liverpool to avoid any distraction around the game based on his heritage and background. Shaqiri hit the headlines for his celebration when scoring for Switzerland against Serbia in an international game, so Liverpool have kept him at home to diffuse the situation.
Elsewhere in midfield for Liverpool, Jordan Henderson and Naby Keita have been out recently and neither look like making it back in time for this game, with Jurgen Klopp not looking to rush them back.
Liverpool predicted XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Milner, Wijnaldu; Mane, Firmino, Salah
Red Star predicted XI: Borjan; Stojkovic, Degenek, Babic, Gobeljic; Krsticic, Jovicic; Ben Nabouhane, Ebecilio, Srnic; Boakye
Squawka Prediction
Liverpool are by far the better team here and if they can go about their business and concentrate on the game of football, this will be an easy night for them. 3-0 to Liverpool.
Predictions & Betting Tips
1. Red Star Belgrade Under 0.5 goals @ 5/7
Liverpool have been known as a poor defensive team for the past few years, but the arrival of Virgil Van Dijk has completely turned them around. Not only is Van Dijk an exceptional defender himself, but he is also a great organiser and one who makes other players around him play better.
He will have to play well to keep his defence together and communicating in the tough Serbian atmosphere, but Liverpool look more than capable of keeping a clean sheet here.
Key Stat: At Anfield in October, Liverpool kept a clean sheet and never looked in any trouble.

2. Mo Salah to Score Two or More Goals @ 3/1
When these two met at Anfield, Salah was in fine form and the Red Star defence simply didn’t have an answer for him.
Whether he was on the ball looking for team-mates, or making runs off the ball, Salah had the Red Star defence chasing his shadow for most of the game. He is a top quality striker, and looks more than capable of repeating his two goal haul from the first game, and doing the same again on Tuesday night.
Key Stat: Salah is Liverpool’s main man and scored two in the win over Red Star in October.
Tip: Mo Salah to score two or more goals @ 3/1 with BetBull – bet here

3. Liverpool to win 3-0 @ 5/1
Liverpool have shown that they are far better than Red Star Belgrade, and they rightfully come into this one as big favourites.
The one difference between their last encounter and this one is where the game will be held. Liverpool have to deal with a trip to Serbia but they have a number of experienced players who will have played in similar places before, and those players can get their team through here.
It may take Liverpool the first 20 minutes to settle down, but once they do, expect them to win this one comfortably.
Key Stat: Liverpool showed their dominance by winning 4-0 against Red Star in October
