Suso welcomes Real Madrid links

AC Milan star Suso has welcomed recent links to Real Madrid but claims he is already “happy” at one of the “world’s biggest clubs”.

After a failed spell at Liverpool, Suso moved to the San Siro in 2015 and after initially struggling to win a first-team place with Milan, he has become one of their key players over the past two-and-a-half seasons, helping him earn a place in the Spanish national team.

The Spaniard already has five goals and eight assists in just 15 games for the Rossoneri this season and with Real Madrid still struggling to replace Cristiano Ronaldo, the European Champions have reportedly been keeping tabs on the 24-year-old.

However, speaking to Radio Marca (via Football Italia), Suso has made it clear that, despite being flattered by Real’s interest, he is happy at Milan.

He said: “Real Madrid? The Italian culture is very similar to the Spanish one. I feel very good in Milan, but it’s clear that it’s always nice to play at home.

“When the biggest clubs in the world are following you then you can only be proud, it means you’re doing things right.

“Playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world can only make you happy.”

Suso also spoke about his relationship with AC Milan manager Gennaro Gattuso, feeling that the ex-midfield hard man hasn’t lost any of his old edge and is “perfect” for the Milan job.

He added: “I feel important at Milan, I’m happy and I have a good relationship with the Coach [Rino Gattuso],” Suso said on Radio Marca.

“The Coach is like he was when he played, he hasn’t lost the intensity he had on the pitch. Then after training, he’s the nicest and most approachable person you could ever meet. He’s the right man, he’s perfect for Milan.”

AC Milan are currently fifth in the Serie A table but already find themselves 13 points behind leaders Juventus. Their next game is away to Lazio on Sunday, November 25.
