What makes him special? David de Gea hasn’t had the best start to the season, by his own high standards, but the goalkeeper remains one of the best in the world and shows his importance to United every game.
Key stat: David de Gea has made 48 saves in the Premier League this season, more than any goalkeeper in the top half of the table.
1. Marc-Andre ter Stegen (Barcelona/Germany)
What makes him special? Ter Stegen may not be Germany’s number one goalkeeper – for whatever reason – but the Barcelona number one is continuously proving himself to be one of the best in the world, and in this case, the best No. 1.
Key stat: Marc-Andre ter Stegen has averaged 2.62 saves per game in La Liga this season.
