Manuel Pellegrini has said he is more concerned about getting West Ham’s first Premier League win of the season than having his team news leaked.
The Hammers have lost all four of their league games so far and Pellegrini will be looking to avoid becoming the first West Ham manager to lose all five of their opening fixtures against Everton on Sunday.
Earlier this week, Pellegrini was made aware of twitter account @ExWHUemployee, which had correctly predicted 89 West Ham line-ups before they were made public.
However, Pellegrini is focusing on trying to get his side’s season up-and-running and isn’t angry about the squad leaks.
“It’s not true,” he said (via the Mirror). “I’m not angry about that. I’m not aware of the team being leaked. In every team I have managed, the day before the game I work the set-pieces so all the players know the day before who will play and who will not.
“So many players can talk with others and I am not keeping the starting XI three or four hours before the game. We work every day so there are a lot of reasons why people can know the team.”
The ex-Real Madrid and Manchester City manager did, however, confirm that Javier Hernandez will miss the trip to Goodison Park with a virus, while Jack Wilshere is also out with an injury, adding: “Jack felt a pain in his ankle two days ago.
“We will see in the next days what is the risk. No, he doesn’t have a chance to play on Sunday. On Tuesday we will after he has a medical review.”
But Pellegrini has still backed his players to turn their form around while stating that he will continue to trust in is own tried and tested methods.
He said: “I don’t think that because you lose four games you must not be confident. In this moment I trust more than ever what I do because it’s not the first time that I am doing this work, not the first time in my career that we have bad results, every club has bad results in one moment of the season. It is not good to start with bad results but we are absolutely confident we are going to reverse it.”
West Ham’s trip to Everton kicks off at 4pm on Sunday with the Hammers having won just one game at Goodison Park since December 2005.
