Arsenal have the quality to win the Premier League this season, according to former club striker Kanu.
The Gunners are still adjusting to life under new manager Unai Emery following the departure of former club boss Arsene Wenger at the end of last season, who ended his 22-year tenure with the club back in May.
Upon Emery’s arrival, the north London outfit suffered a slow start to life in the Premier League, losing two tough opening matches to Manchester City and Chelsea respectively.
However, Arsenal have now won five games in a row – including their Europa League victory against Vorskla – and are looking slightly more comfortable playing football under Emery.
Speaking with reporters, Kanu, who won two Premier League titles and two FA Cups with Arsenal, believes that they can actually push on and win their first domestic crown since 2004 as long as their mentality and spirit are right.
The former Nigeria international said: “It is difficult for them to win the league but it is doable if they keep playing the way they are playing now.
“I think they can come second, third or fourth.
“I think this season that they might win it. Like I said, it is doable. It is not me saying it, it is the players believing in what he is telling them and having that mentality that they will be up there and win the league.
“You have to have the spirit and believe you can do it.”
Arsenal’s next Premier League fixture is against Watford on Saturday afternoon, with the Hornets currently sitting two places and one point above the Gunners in the table.
