Chelsea newcomer Jorginho has received widespread adulation for his mastery in the centre of the park, but Tottenham playmaker Christian Eriksen has covered more ground than the Italian.
Jorginho, 26, has been a fundamental component of Maurizio Sarri’s philosophy in west London, as he was in Naples, and he hit the headlines over the weekend after setting a new Premier League record for passes – completing 180 against West Ham United.
The Brazilian-born Italian has been Chelsea’s metronome in midfield, setting the tempo for their style of play and dictating the rhythm of their passing range.
And while he has already proven to be a revelation at Stamford Bridge this season for his midfield mastery, Christian Eriksen has topped the charts for distance covered, registering three kilometres more than Jorginho.

Christian Eriksen has so far accumulated 73.67 km of distance covered, while Jorginho has only clocked in at 70.30 km, showing just how influential the Dane is for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
Eriksen’s style of play is more heavily associated with his contributions in the final third, as proven last season when the 26-year-old netted 10 Premier League goals and registered 10 league assists.
However, Eriksen has proven that his overall gameplay is far more expansive than just goals and assists alone, and he even sits above perennial runner N’golo Kante in the distance covered table, with the Frenchman only covering 69.52 km this season.
Despite this, the former Ajax midfielder is yet to register a league goal this season, though he has provided two assists as Spurs sit fifth-place in the Premier League.
Up next for Pochettino’s men is an away trip to West Yorkshire this Saturday afternoon as his side take on strugglers Huddersfield Town.
