Neymar’s work ethic separates him from Mbappe, says Diego Simeone

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has revealed that he would rather sign Neymar over Kylian Mbappe due to the Brazilian’s superior work-rate.

With both players seemingly settled in France playing for Ligue 1 champions Paris-Saint Germain, the likelihood of either player heading to Atletico is virtually zero.

However, both players have proven that they can produce the goods at the highest level.

Neymar was one-third of Barcelona’s famous ‘MSN’ trio that consisted of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, before moving to PSG in a deal that would eclipse all previous transfer deals, costing the French outfit £198m.

Mbappe, 19, showed his potential with AS Monaco before making the move to Paris. This summer, Mbappe starred for France in Russia, helping his country secure their first World Cup trophy in 20 years.

Despite this, Simeone favours the Brazilian playmaker over the talented Frenchman.

Asked during an interview with El Partidazo de COPE (via AS) who he would rather sign, Simeone replied: “Neymar for sure because he works more.

“He worked a lot in the Luis Enrique’s Barcelona team.

“Mbappe is a great player but he is more individualistic and without such a defined position.”

Both players will want to produce the goods on a domestic level for PSG once again this season. However, under new boss Thomas Tuchel, the aim is to get their hands on the Champions League trophy to further emphasise their dominance in European football.
