Ivan Perisic builds his perfect footballer using three Premier League players

Ivan Perisic has named three Premier League players among a list of stars that would combine to make his ‘ultimate player’.

The Croatian international picked Cristiano Ronaldo for skill, Lionel Messi for dribbling and Sergio Ramos for heading, while Ramos’ Real Madrid teammate Casemiro was Persic’s pick for winning the ball back.

Perisic also mentioned three Premier League players, two of which come from Tottenham Hotspur.

In a feature on Uefa’s official website (via Football Italia), the Inter Milan winger said: “When it comes to free-kicks I’d choose [Christian] Eriksen from Tottenham.

“The player with the best vision is Kevin de Bruyne from Manchester City. I think the best finisher is Tottenham’s Harry Kane.”

It’s hard to argue with the Croatian’s choices, from a Premier League perspective at least.

No player has scored more direct free-kicks in the English top-flight than Eriksen’s six since he joined Spurs in 2013/14. Kevin De Bruyne, meanwhile, provided 43 assists in his first 100 Premier League games, more than any other player has ever managed in the competition’s history.

And whilst Harry Kane’s conversion rate is not league-leading – mainly due to the number of shots he takes – the England captain has scored 20+ league goals in each of his last four seasons, hitting the 30-goal mark for the first time in his career in 2017/18.

From Dortmund to Inter and the World Cup final: Ivan Perisic

Ivan Perisic began his footballing career coming through the Hadjuk Split youth system before moving to French side Sochaux in 2006.

After spending three years in France, with a loan spell at Belgian side Roeselare in-between, and without making a first-team appearance, Perisic then moved to Club Brugge.

The winger got his break playing for the Belgian Pro League side, bagging 35 goals in 89 games and earning a big move to Borussia Dortmund, where he spent two years playing under Jurgen Klopp, winning the Bundesliga title in 2012.

After an 88-game spell with Wolfsburg, Perisic then moved to Italy to play for Serie A giants Inter Milan. To date, the 29-year-old has made 122 appearances for the Nerazzurri, scoring 33 goals, but is yet to win a title with the San Siro side.

At international level, Perisic has moulded himself into one of the key components of the Croatian national side, scoring 22 goals in 74 caps so far.

Perisic scored three goals a this summer’s World Cup, including the equaliser in the semi-final against England and becoming the first Croatian to score in a World Cup final, against France.
