Borussia Dortmund striker Paco Alcacer has compared playing Atletico Madrid to suffering from a toothache.
The German side welcome Atletico to the Westfalenstadion in the Champions League on Wednesday, a tie between two sides who have won both of their matches in the competition so far.
Alcacer played nine times against Atletico while in La Liga with Getafe and Valencia, scoring just one goal.
And, despite the Spaniard being in fine form for Dortmund this season, he does not have fond memories of facing the capital club.
“Playing Atletico is similar to toothache, definitely,” he told Marca (via Football Espana).
“They are extremely tough to play against, they do not give you any spaces and they are completely aware of what you do and can nullify it.
“It is particularly tough for attackers because they analyse your game and know the best way to stop you from creating chances.
“This is a game against a great team who are in Europe’s elite but we must only think about our own strengths and how we can succeed.
“It is an important test for us and a good marker, we have made a good start in both the league and Champions League but this is the toughest test yet.
“We believe this group is extremely competitive and we want to keep all possibilities open as long as possible, we saw what happened to Atleti last season (eliminated at group stage).”
Both Dortmund and Atletico have been in top form recently, with Alcacer and Co currently top of the Bundesliga, winning nine of their 11 matches across all competitions so far. Meanwhile, Atletico have gone eight games without a defeat, winning five and conceding just four goals ahead of the Champions League tie on Wednesday.
Paco Alcacer’s storming start with Dortmund
Dortmund’s good start to the season has been, in part, down to Alcacer’s form in front of goal.

The Spaniard, on loan from Barcelona, has scored seven goals in the Bundesliga so far – in just four matches for the Schwarzgelben.
What makes this even more impressive is Alcacer has scored with every shot on target he has had, something which has also spread to the Spanish national team too.
