Arsenal will match any offer made by rivals Tottenham Hotspur for Norwich City right-back Max Aarons, according to reports.
The 18-year-old defender has been in fine form for the Canaries during the first half of their Championship campaign and the two London clubs are prepared to fight each other along with clubs around Europe for his signature in January.
Why would clubs be lining up for Aarons? Four things to know…
- Aarons made his senior debut for the Canaries at the beginning of the season.
- He replaced right-back Ivo Pinto, who hasn’t featured in Daniel Farke’s side since October.
- The Englishman has scored two goals this season, while assisting three more, and has created 10 chances from open play.
- Aarons has also completed 18 successful take-ons, has blocked 10 crosses and won 20 tackles so far.
The 18-year-old full-back is highly regarded in his position and found the net in recent games against Rotherham and Bristol City, as well as starting again on Boxing Day against Nottingham Forest.
Regardless of the offer made by either club, the Mirror say Norwich would be opposed to any deal that does not guarantee Aarons will remain in East Anglia for the rest of the season on loan.

Spurs, it is claimed, are currently favourites to sign him, but Arsenal are thought to be willing to match any bid made by their north London rivals.
Aarons has made 19 appearances for the Canaries this season, bagging two goals. He has also assisted more Championship goals than any Norwich defender this season.
He has also made four appearances for England at Under-19s level.
Do Spurs need Aarons after Kyle Walker-Peters’ hat-trick of assists?
Kyle Walker-Peters is the first player to provide 3+ assists in a single Premier League game this season.

Should Tottenham shell out £15m on a right-back when they have their own English prodigy among their ranks? Walker-Peters, 21, impressed during Spurs’ 5-0 thrashing of Bournemouth on Boxing Day.
The youngster assisted all three of Spurs’ goals before halftime and became the first player to make three assists in the first half of a Boxing Day Premier League fixture since Stephen Ireland in Man City’s 5-1 home triumph versus Hull City in 2008.
The 21-year-old defender is also the youngest player (21y, 257d) to provide three assists in a Premier League game since Jermaine Pennant (20y, 227d) made three in August 2003 for Leeds United against Middlesbrough.
