Gonzalo Higuain reveals the current AC Milan team-mate he “always” admired

AC Milan marksman Gonzalo Higuain has heaped praise on team-mate Suso, revealing he has always wanted to play alongside the Spaniard.

Suso, 24, provided a hat-trick of assists on Sunday afternoon as the Rossoneri beat Chievo 3-1 at the San Siro, taking them to tenth in Serie A.

Higuain netted twice to take his league tally to four for the season since joining Gennaro Gattuso’s side on a season-long loan from Juventus, while Giacomo Bonaventura netted the third.

After the match, Higuain spoke in awe of his side’s turnaround after enduring a difficult start to the season, while further waxing lyrical about the former Liverpool midfielder.

“I feel like I am already part of this club, as there’s a fantastic group that works hard,” Higuain told Sky Sport Italia (via Football Italia).

“We had a bit of a complicated start, but we’re on the right track now and must continue like this. Milan gave me so much confidence and support from the first day and I want to repay them for that. It’s also a new challenge and that fires you up.

“When I played for other teams, I’d watch Suso play and admire his quality. His second assist today was fantastic and it’s thanks to my teammates that I get goals.

“Now we’ve got to start looking towards the derby and will try to beat Inter.”

Higuain will now turn his attention to the Derby della Madonnina in a fortnight, as AC Milan take on eternal rivals Inter at the San Siro.

Suso in Italy

The Spain international relocated to Milan from Liverpool in 2015, and has since made 103 appearances across all competitions for the club, scoring 17 and providing 32 assists.

Suso initially spent his first full season in Italy on-loan with Genoa, where he played 19 matches in Serie A and scored six goals as the Rossoblu finished 11th in the league during the 2015/16 season.

Since returning to the San Siro, Suso has been an integral part of the starting XI and now appears to be taking his game to the next level this season, as he has already provided six assists, scored two goals and produced three man-of-the-matches performances in Serie A.
