Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has proven this season that he is a better player than former Reds star Emre Can according to Tony Cascarino.
Wijnaldum has been a permanent fixture within the Liverpool starting eleven this season as they compete for the Premier League title.

Discussing the abilities of current Reds midfielder Wijnaldum, Cascarino compared the Dutchman to former club midfielder Can. Cascarino was full of praise for Wijnaldum, revealing that he feels the 28-year-old is a better player than Can ever was for the Merseyside club.
“I wondered why they let Emre Can go to Juventus last summer,” Cascarino told the Times.
“And now I know, because they have Wijnaldum, who has shown he is a better central midfielder.”
How important is Wijnaldum at Liverpool?
With both Can and Wijnaldum turning out for teams top of their respective division, this season has seen one midfielder outshine the other.
Can’s move to Juventus will have come as a blow to Liverpool, but as it turned out the German has barely been missed.
Wijnaldum has averaged a pass success rate of 91.6% in the Premier League this season compared to Can’s 87.6%, although the Dutchman has played twice as many matches as Can.
Going forward, Wijnaldum has offered more key passes per match (0.7 to Can’s 0.5), almost twice as many passes per match (52.1 to Can’s 27.8) and generally has looked a more versatile option for Liverpool this season than Can ever was on a consistent basis.
