Christian Eriksen has hinted talks over a new contract with Tottenham have been positive amid ongoing rumours of interest from Real Madrid.
The Danish playmaker’s current deal expires at the end of next season and he is yet to commit his long-term future to Spurs.

Eriksen joined Tottenham from Ajax in the summer of 2013 and has emerged as one of the best creative midfielders in Europe over the last five-and-a-half seasons.
Speaking after Spurs’ 1-0 victory over Chelsea in the EFL Cup semi-final first leg at Wembley on Tuesday, the 26-year-old told Danish television channel TV3 Sport there has been a “nice dialogue” with Tottenham.
“It is not something I am thinking of,” Eriksen said. “I focus on playing football and there are many battles you have to think about and which must be won.
“It is not the first time that there have been rumours and when the newspapers write something, it is not something we are masters of, and if there is nothing concrete, then I just comment on rumours.
“I think people know what I want and I know what [Tottenham] would like, and there is a nice dialogue so there is nothing there.”
Is Eriksen’s form being affected by Real Madrid talk?
Eriksen has created 2.32 chances per 90 minutes in the Premier League so far this season, more than any other Spurs player.
His performances have been consistently impressive in recent weeks despite constant talk about his future. However, he struggled against Chelsea on Tuesday.
Last season, he mainly lined up on the right of an attacking midfield three in a 4-2-3-1 formation. But this term, Eriksen has been used on the left of a midfield diamond.
Against the Blues on Tuesday night, he found it difficult to help left-back Danny Rose in keeping tricky young winger Callum Hudson-Odoi quiet.
Eventually, Mauricio Pochettino switched Eriksen with Dele Alli, who had been playing at the tip of the diamond for most of the game.
In truth, most of Tottenham’s stars were below par at Wembley, and Eriksen’s failings were likely unrelated to his contract situation.
