Pulisic: Where Chelsea "definitely see me" playing in the XI

Christian Pulisic has admitted he is yet to speak to Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri since agreeing a move to the Premier League club.

The USA international completed a £57.6m move to the Blues last week before being immediately loaned back to Borussia Dortmund for the remainder of the season.

Pulisic and Sarri yet to speak? Five key things to know…

  1. Pulisic completed a £57.6m move to Chelsea last week, being immediately loaned back to Dortmund until the end of the season.
  2. The USA international has become the Blues’ third-most expensive signing of all time.
  3. Following the announcement, Sarri admitted he knew nothing of the deal ahead of its completion.
  4. In another interesting development, Pulisic has now revealed he is yet to speak to Sarri.
  5. Pulisic has scored three goals in 18 games across all competitions for Dortmund this season.

And following Sarri’s recent comments claiming he was unaware of the deal prior to its announcement, Pulisic has revealed that the pair are yet to exchange words.

Asked whether he has spoken to Sarri, the 20-year-old told ESPN FC: “No, nothing like that.

“Like I said, I’ve been here and playing with Dortmund the whole time and I’ve been focused here, but I’ll be really excited once the time comes.”

Pulisic’s fee makes him Chelsea’s third-most expensive signing of all time, behind goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga (£72m) and striker Alvaro Morata (£59.4m).

However, the winger is well aware that he will still have to work for his place in the Blues’ starting XI and that his fee doesn’t give him any guarantees.

“You have to go in and earn your spot and prove you are worthy of being on the field,” he added.

“I think they definitely see me in one of the wider areas, but I think they also know that I can play kind anywhere across the attack. So I’m ready for wherever I need to be filled in really.”

“I didn’t know anything about Pulisic”

In an amazing revelation, Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri recently admitted he was unaware of Chelsea’s signing of Pulisic until it was announced to the public, although he was consulted on it before the turn of the year.

Sarri said: “I didn’t know anything about Pulisic yesterday.

“The club asked my opinion about him one month ago. My opinion was positive and today I’ve known that the deal is done.”

Chelsea take on Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday and will be aiming to bounce back from their League Cup defeat to Spurs.
