Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has announced that he will retire at the end of the season.
The 36-year-old has made just 12 appearances this season, having lost his place in the side to Bernd Leno since Unai Emery’s arrival at Emirates Stadium.
Cech wrote on his official Twitter account: “This is my 20th season as a professional player and it has been 20 years since I signed my first professional contract, so it feels like the right time to announce that I will retire at the end of this season.
“Having played 15 years in the Premier League, and won every single trophy possible, I feel like I have achieved everything I set out to achieve.
“I will continue to work hard at Arsenal to hopefully win one more trophy this season, then I am looking forward to seeing what life holds for me off the pitch.”
Cech has won four Premier League titles, four FA Cups and three League Cups during his time in English football. The veteran goalkeeper has also enjoyed European success in a distinguished career, having won both the Europa League and Champions League during his spell at Chelsea.
But will the Gunners miss the veteran goalkeeper once he has hung up his gloves? Or are the Arsenal fanbase happy to see the back of him?
And is he still revered by Chelsea supporters, despite turning out for one of their capital rivals?

Prime Petr Cech arguably in the top three Premier League goalkeepers of all time. He was outrageous at Chelsea, and showed glimpses of that at Arsenal, but his retirement is coming at the right time. #AFC #CFC #Cech

We may have signed him at the end of his career but I’ll always be grateful to Petr Cech for what he’s done whilst here, a model professional who’s had an unbelievable career, good luck with your retirement @PetrCech

This is the best news I have heard in a while..it's good to sometimes have a look at yourself and be aware that you are past it.. I was so angry with your performance in the last two years for Arsenal it's with great joy I am taking this news of your retirement..Thank you Cech!!!

Is Cech a Premier League legend?
Cech has been in decline for a number of years, with his limitations with the ball at his feet clear to see.
But he remains the only goalkeeper to keep 200+ clean sheets in Premier League history and has been among the division’s best shot-stoppers for more than a decade.
He also won the Golden Glove award on four occasions, most notably when he kept 24 clean sheets as the Blues marched to their maiden Premier League title in 2005.
He also claimed the award with Arsenal, courtesy of 16 clean sheets in the 2015/16 season.
Given that he also had to cope with a serious head injury after a collision with Reading’s Stephen Hunt in 2006, Cech will be widely remembered as one of the Premier League’s finest goalkeepers.
