Alexis Sanchez to join Man Utd pre-season US tour

Manchester United have announced forward Alexis Sanchez will be joining up with the squad for their pre-season tour of the United States.

The Chilean had not initially traveled with Jose Mourinho and his squad to Los Angeles on Sunday due to reported problems with his visa.

United were already missing a large number of their first team squad due to a those now on holiday having represented their respective nations at the World Cup.

But Mourinho has been given a boost with the former Arsenal man now allowed to travel to the United States and set to fly out shortly.

A statement released on Manchester United’s official website read: “There is good news on the Alexis Sanchez front as the Chilean star has been given the green light to fly to the United States to join Tour 2018 presented by Aon.

“The stellar signing in January has been maintaining his fitness at the Aon Training Complex for the last few days but finished his final session there on Thursday.

“He is now due to fly across the Atlantic Ocean to Los Angeles in order to be reunited with the squad.”

The Red Devils kick off their pre-season against Club America in the early hours of Friday morning, their first of five games in the United States.

Mourinho’s men also face San Jose Earthquakes, AC Milan, Liverpool and Real Madrid in the United States before taking on Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.

United then start their Premier League season against Leicester City at Old Trafford on Friday August 10, the opening game of the new campaign.
