Max Allegri insists he has no “problems” with Leo Bonucci amid talk of Juventus return

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri insists there is no rift between him and Leonardo Bonucci amid talk of his return to Turin.

Bonucci left the Old Lady last summer after spending seven years in Turin to play for A.C. Milan, where he subsequently made 51 appearances.

The central defender is poised to make a return to Juventus after both clubs confirmed that he wants to go back to Turin.

One of the reasons Bonucci left Juve was allegedly due to a falling out with Allegri, but the Tuscan has insisted he had a good relationship with the 31-year-old.

“I had a good relationship with him,” Allegri told reporters (via Football Italia).

“There were discussions, but those also took place with other players. It’s part of the job. There are no problems.

“That said, I don’t want to talk about the transfer market, that’s down to the club. Juventus have five very good, indeed excellent centre-backs.”

Could Juventus restore Serie A’s former glory?

There was a time when Serie A was considered to be the finest football leagues on the planet, with the world’s best players competing there at one time or another.

However, for the past decade Serie A has been mired in several match fixing scandals which have proved to be very costly to the league’s reputation. As a potential consequence of the Italian league’s decline the English Premier League and Spain’s La Liga have emerged as the world’s most popular football leagues.

If Bonucci returns to Turin he will join newcomers Emre Can, Joao Cancelo, Douglas Costa and five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo as Juve prepare to make a renewed challenge in the Champions League which would only increase Serie A’s regrowing reputation after an exciting past campaign.

Juventus take on Real Madrid in the final leg of their pre-season tour in the United States on 4 August.
