Barcelona‘s Director of Football Eric Abidal says that Malcom has a “big future ahead of him” after the Brazilian forward arrived at the club on Thursday.
Malcom began his career with Brazilian side Corinthians, making his senior debut a few weeks after his 17th birthday. The winger then left Brazil for Ligue 1 side Bordeaux where he made 96 appearances, scoring 23 goals
His performances in France convinced the Catalans to fork out £36.5 million, much to the chagrin of Serie A side Roma, who claim they already had an agreement with Bourdeux and are now considering taking legal action.

Abidal, 38, who made 193 appearances for the Catalan giants has clearly not let the controversy affect him, as he could barely contain his enthusiasm for Malcom’s arrival, and the former defender thinks he has all the right qualities to fit in at the club.
“We saw immediately that he had the Barcelona profile,” Abidal told reporters (via Football Espana) at Malcom’s official presentation in Portland.
“He is a left-footed player who is able to operate on both wings, whilst he can also play as an attacking midfielder. He has a big future ahead of him.”
Malcom is a versatile forward who has performed well for Bordeaux over the last three seasons. The Brazilian notched twelve goals in 31 Ligue 1 appearances last season and assisted six more for his teammates.
The Brazilian will have the opportunity to face the club he almost went to when Barca take on Roma in a pre-season friendly on August 1.
