Napoli chief has labelled Maurizio Sarri “rude” for the manner of his departure

Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis has labelled Maurizio Sarri “rude” for the way he left the club.

The Napoli owner has made several comments about his former manager in the weeks since Sarri left Naples and became the new manager at Chelsea.

Sarri has recently vowed not to reply to De Laurentiis despite the continued criticism from his old boss. The new Chelsea manager guided Napoli to a second-place finish in Serie A last season, taking Juventus to the last two games of the season and even looked like they could come out on top after beating Juve in the closing weeks of the campaign.

It was not to be however and Sarri left after Napoli confirmed the appointment of Carlo Ancelotti as his replacement. De Laurentiis has continued to speak frankly about his old manager and labelled him rude for the way he left.

“Sarri? Since I’m a decent person, I asked what his intentions were right until the end,” he told Mediaset Premium (via Football Italia).

“He didn’t get back to me, which I found rather rude, so I immediately turned to Ancelotti.”

When asked about the future of Roberto Inglese, De Laurentiis admitted that Carlo Ancelotti wants the player to remain at the club. Inglese was on loan at Verona-based Cheivo last season and had an excellent campaign. In 34 Serie A appearances the forward bagged 12 goals.

He added: “Inglese? Yesterday I was having dinner with Ancelotti, and he told me the words: ‘President, let’s keep Inglese!’”

Napoli will be hoping that Ancelotti can help them go one step further this season and grab their first Scudetto since 1990 but their task will have been made harder by Juve’s capture of Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo.
