It’s clear for all to see that Liverpool have come on leaps and bounds under Jurgen Klopp.
The swashbuckling brand of football played under the German tactician is some of the best across Europe and it nearly brought them a sixth European Cup last season.
Not content to rest on their laurels in search of silverware, the Reds been active in this summer’s transfer window, already making no fewer than four major acquisitions, midfielder Naby Keita – effectively signed 12 months ago – joins goalkeeper Alisson and forward Xherdan Shaqiri.
Completing the quartet is Brazilian defender-cum-midfielder Fabinho, who joined from AS Monaco where he was champion, but there’s a mystery surrounding the imperious defensive-midfielder, and that is his squad number.
What he’s been wearing
Yet to play a competitive game, as we are still in pre-season mode, the 24-year-old has gradually been integrated into Klopp’s squad as they look to fight on four fronts.
So far, he’s been seen wearing the No.3 shirt, but the club have yet to confirm it on their site.
What he wore at Monaco
Fabinho initially joined former club Monaco in 2013 on loan from Rio Ave FC before making the switch permanent two years later.
Originally a right-back, his number in the principality represented that. Fabinho donned the No.2 jersey, though it’s currently unavailable at his new workplace, as it’s presently owned by Nathaniel Clyne who is looking to put a tough period behind him.
What numbers are available?
If we go from 1 to 23 there are only three numbers available: 3 (which is seemingly his provisional squad number), 13 and 19 last worn by Alexander Manninger and Liverpool’s new No.10 Sadio Mane respectively.
That being said, we’ll soon find out with the new Premier League season just around the corner.
