Allegri explains how Ronaldo could make things harder for Juventus

Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri has warned of the side effect of signing Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo, 33, sensationally moved from Real Madrid to the Old Lady in a deal reportedly worth £88.3m this summer.

Allegri, who is delighted to acquire his talents, has warned having the Portuguese forward on board coupled with their domestic supremacy will make their rivals more determined than ever to topple them.

“Cristiano has lots of international experience and he will help us a lot, but we have to be careful,” he told reporters (via Goal).

“There is too much euphoria around us and it’s not good. This year will be more difficult than others.

“Opponents will be more aggressive because we have won many games and now we have an excellent player like him.

“They will accept it and also, they will have more motivation. With Ronaldo, I spoke about how happy and enthusiastic I am about him coming here, there will be time to speak about football.”

A deadly alliance

Juventus go into the 2018/19 season having won the previous seven Italian championships. They are unquestionably first among equals in Serie A with their position on top looking as strong as ever.

Ronaldo’s arrival will no doubt boost the league’s viewership figures, akin to the numbers attained two decades ago, however, it spells trouble for Juve’s rivals who are looking to dethrone them.

Despite turning 33 earlier this year, Ronaldo is not missing a beat, even going as far to suggest he’s got the body of a player ten years his junior. He leaves Real as the club’s all-time top scorer having registered 450 goals across 438 games lifting four European Cups (including the last three on the bounce) and two La Liga crowns in the process.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is expected to make his Juve (and Serie A) debut away to Chievo on August 18.
