Lacazette urges Arsenal to keep Ramsey

Arsenal need to make sure they keep midfielder Aaron Ramsey at the club, according to teammate Alexandre Lacazette.

Ramsey has just one year left on his current contract at the club and previously admitted, while he wants to stay with Arsenal, no deal has been made between the two parties.

New Arsenal head coach Unai Emery has already made it clear he wants the Welshman to sign a new deal and now Lacazette is the latest to join the list of those pleading for Ramsey to stay.

The Frenchman also went as far as calling the 27-year-old a legend at the club, while highlighting the influence he has on his teammates.

“Aaron has been there for about 10 years, he is like a legend at the club,” Lacazette told Sky Sports News.

“We have to be respectful for everything he has done and of course with his quality he can help the team to be better. He brings stability, quality and leadership.

“He is an example for all the young players too, so of course we need Aaron in the team.”

Ramsey and Lacazette have been part of Arsenal’s pre-season squad currently in Singapore, with the latter scoring twice in their latest game – a 5-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain.

Ramsey’s Arsenal career so far

The Welshman is about to embark on his 10th year as a Gunner, having joined the club from Cardiff City in 2008, at just 17 years of age.

In that time, Ramsey has made 331 appearances for the club in all competitions, and is currently being tipped to captain Arsenal for the upcoming season following Per Mertesacker’s retirement.

Last season, the midfielder scored 11 goals for the Gunners across all competitions, with only Lacazette (17) scoring more.
