Napoli are interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Benjamin Henrichs and Standard Liege goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa, club president Aurelio De Laurentiis has confirmed.
The Partenopei president talked about several transfer options on a ‘true or false’ segment on Italian radio station, Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.
“I don’t know yet,” De Laurentiis replied when asked about Santiago Arias (via Football Italia). “Everything is still to be seen.
“Matteo Darmian on loan with an option to buy? True! I told you we were looking at six profiles, Henrichs of Bayer is also a possibility. We’ll see what happens.
“Davide Grassi to Spain or Spal? True!
“Tonelli to Samp? True!
“Interest in Guillermo Ochoa? True!”
The Napoli boss was then asked if his daily ‘True or False’ segments are an effective way of correcting fake news.
“True, even if fake news continues to circulate on the web. Those who make fun of this segment should look at their own home first.”
Napoli’s transfer window
Napoli have already spent €84million this summer. Their most expensive signing so far is central midfielder Fabian Ruiz who joined from Real Betis for €30m, replacing the space left by Jorginho who departed Naples to join his former coach Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea.
The Partenopei have also acquired winger Simone Verdi from Bologna for €25m, and goalkeeper Alex Meret who joined from Udinese for €22m.
Napoli finished second in Serie A last season, only four points adrift of champions Juventus. Many felt that last season’s title was Napoli’s to lose, but they might have to redouble their efforts to catch the Old Lady this season, as they have spent big this summer.
Juve have reinforced their squad ahead of the 2018/19 season with world-class talent, including Emre Can, Joao Cancelo, Douglas Costa and five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo.
Napoli’s opening game in Serie A is against Lazio on 19 August, they will face Juventus at the end of September.
