Hector Bellerin shoots down “crazy” rumours over Arsenal exit

Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin says he “doesn’t want to be anywhere else” amid prolonged rumours about leaving the club.

Bellerin was trained by Barcelona’s prestigious La Masia academy, before being snapped up by Arsene Wenger in 2011.

As a teenager Bellerin spent a period on loan with Watford before finally breaking into to the Gunners’ first team in 2014 as a 19-year-old.

After Arsenal’s uninspiring and trophyless campaign last season rumours have linked the Spaniard with a move to Manchester United and Italian giants Juventus –  rumours that Bellerin has dismissed out of hand.

“It is crazy that people ask me these questions all the time,” Bellerin told reporters during the launch of Arsenal’s third kit in Singapore (via Goal).

“A few years ago I signed a very long-term contract. I have never said that I have wanted to be anywhere else.

“I am very happy in London. I am very happy at this club. The club have made me who I am and gave me the chance to be the footballer I am today. So I don’t want to be anywhere else.”

“At all the teams that he’s been at, it’s all about being very competitive and really tight at the back,” he added.

“The important thing at the start is to allow everyone to get in sync with the new coaches and staff. If we do that, everything is going to work and we can challenge for very big things in the future.”

Bellerin is clearly going to feature prominently in new head coach Unai Emery’s plans, as the 24-year-old has been given Arsenal’s prestigious No.2 shirt, which he described on Twitter as a “dream come true.”

The shirt was famously worn by Gunners legend, and one of the Premier League’s best right-backs, Lee Dixon who won two Premier League titles with the club.

Arsenal play Chelsea in the final game of their pre-season tour in Dublin, Ireland. They will face champions Manchester City in the opening game of the new Premier League season at the Emirates Stadium on 12 August.
