No “concrete” offers from Chelsea, but Juventus confirm talks over Gonzalo Higuain’s future

Juventus CEO Giuseppe Marotta has said the club have received no offers from Chelsea or AC Milan for Gonzalo Higuain but admits talks are planned over the striker’s future.

Higuain joined Juventus from Napoli in 2016 and has made 105 appearances across all competitions for the Serie A champions, scoring 55 goals.

However, the surprise arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid has thrown Higuain’s future into doubt.

Both Chelsea and Milan have been linked with a move for the Argentinian, who has scored 31 goals in 75 appearances for his country.

But Marotta claims there has been no formal offers from either club despite suggestions new Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is keen to reunite with Higuain, who he managed at Napoli.

“I won’t deny that with the addition of Cristiano Ronaldo we’ve got a quality attacking department that’s a bit crowded,” Marotta told Sky Italia, according to Goal.

“We’ll evaluate things with Higuain, but nothing concrete has arrived from Chelsea and Milan.

“He is still an important player for us. Now obviously there is more competition, but he is a professional and we are evaluating his future together with his representatives. We have great respect for him.”

Higuain’s goal record pales in comparison to that of Ronaldo. The Portugal international scored 450 goals in 438 appearances for Real Madrid before opting to join Juventus this summer.

Of course, Higuain is a former Real Madrid player, too. He found the net 121 times in 264 games for the La Liga giants prior to his move to Napoli in 2013.
