Allegri predicts Ronaldo to thrive: “he will score goals as he always has”

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri is expecting Cristiano Ronaldo to pick up where he left off at Real Madrid.

Ronaldo, 33, scored an incredible 450 goals in 438 appearances for Los Blancos, while he has also netted 573 goals across all competitions in his career since deputising for Sporting CP 16 years ago.

Now plying his trade in the Serie A with perennial league champions Juventus, Allegri is predicting the former Man Utd star to flourish in Turin, and to continue scoring goals in typical Ronaldo fashion.

Speaking after the Old Lady’s victory against Bayern Munich in the International Champions Cup, Allegri revealed his expectations for the Portuguese international, though he was reluctant to give too many details away about how he will deploy the forward.

“Ronaldo will play where he has always played, in the front third,” Allegri told reporters, according to Goal.

“And he will score goals as he always has.”

Incredibly Ronaldo could make his Bianconeri introduction when the club take on his former employers Real Madrid in a pre-season friendly match on August 4.

Despite entering his twilight years, Ronaldo remains as prolific and as potent as ever, with the forward netting 26 goals in 27 matches during Real’s La Liga campaign last season, while his 15 goals in the Champions League helped Los Blancos clinch a third successive title.

His exploits even rolled over to the World Cup as he bagged four goals during the quadrennial tournament – including a sensational hat-trick against Spain – though his efforts were not enough to help Portugal progress past Uruguay in the round-of-16.
