Chelsea have made an offer for Daniele Rugani but Juventus are unlikely to sell the defender, according to his agent.
Reports have consistently linked Rugani with a move to a Premier League club throughout this summer’s transfer window and Chelsea are now emerging as the favourites.
David Torchia, Rugani’s agent, has confirmed that the Blues have now submitted a formal offer for the 23-year-old, however, he failed to disclose any details about the fee offered by the west London club.
“A very important offer has come in for Rugani from Chelsea,” the agent told Radio Vecchia Signora, via Football Italia.
“However, Juve don’t want to do a deal and they don’t want to sell the player.
“As such, just as with the [Leonardo] Bonucci situation, it seems that anything is possible.”
Rugani’s sale could hinge upon former Juve centre-back Leonardo Bonucci retuning to Turin from A.C. Milan, and Torchia is confident Bonucci’s return has already happened.
“In our jargon, [Beppe] Marotta’s words are clear. Bonucci, to me, already seems a Juventus player.
“If he reduced his wage demands it would be simpler.”
Chelsea’s transfer window
Chelsea’s only significant deal in the transfer market has been the acquisition of Jorginho from Napoli, and they could still possibly lose Willian to Manchester United before August 9.
The Blues had a poor campaign last season, finishing outside of the top four only a season after winning the title in 2016/17, and many pundits have suggested that save from players like Eden Hazard, Cesar Azpilicueta, N’Golo Kante and Willian, Chelsea’s squad needs an urgent revamp.
However, with time running out this summer, it’s looking increasingly like Maurizio Sarri will have to work with what he has currently got.
