Bordeaux confirm Malcom agreement as Roma agree their 13th signing of the summer

Bordeaux have confirmed the sale of forward Malcom to Roma, subject to the player agreeing a deal with the Italian club.

Malcom has long been linked with a move away from Bordeaux after confirming in February that he had made a decision to leave the club come summer.

The 21-year-old had previously been touted with a move to the Premier League with Everton but Roma made a move to lure Malcom to Italy as a result of their increased transfer budget following the sale of Alisson.

And now, Bordeaux have confirmed Malcom’s sale to Roma, pending the signing of administrative documents and a medical.

In a statement released on the club’s official website, Bordeaux said: “FC Girondins de Bordeaux informs you that an agreement has been reached, subject to the signature of the administrative documents, with AS Roma for the transfer of Malcom.”

Last season for Bordeaux, Malcom proved himself to be one of the trickiest wingers in Ligue 1, scoring 12 goals and recording seven assists in 35 appearances.

The Brazilian showed his pace and ability on the ball, completing 93 take-ons – the fifth-highest in Ligue 1, with a 66% success rate.

More telling, however, is the fact that only Nabil Fekir (105), Neymar (104) and Jimmy Briand (95) were fouled more times than Malcom (92) last season.

Roma’s busy summer window

No details have been released with regards to the deal, but upon signing Malcom will become Roma’s 13th new arrival of the summer.

As well as Malcom; Javier Pastore, Gregoire Defrel, Ante Coric all joined the promising Justin Kluivert in moving to Roma to boost their attacking options while William Bianda adds a young option in defence.

The sale of Radja Nainggolan to Inter Milan also saw the arrivals of Davide Santon and Nicolo Zaniolo, with Ivan Marcano joining on a free transfer from Porto in Mochi’s first deal of the window.

Two goalkeepers have been brought in to replace Alisson, in the forms of Daniel Fuzato and Antonio Mirante, while Patrik Schick has made his loan move permanent and Bryan Cristante joining on a temporary basis.
