Liverpool’s new signing Fabinho has said he will attempt to lure Kylian Mbappe to Merseyside in time.
Fabinho, 24, signed for Liverpool from Monaco in a deal worth £43.7m, just part of a huge summer of spending by the Reds who appear intent on challenging for major honours.
And the Brazilian, who joins fellow countrymen Firmino and Alisson at Liverpool, says he’ll try and convince French wonder kid Kylian Mbappe to join him at Anfield.
“Kylian has already said he will remain at PSG for the next season but I will try slowly to convince him to come to Liverpool,” said the defensive midfielder in an interview with the Guardian.
“Kylian sent me a message congratulating me on going to Liverpool. I have not had the chance to congratulate him yet on what he did winning the World Cup but what France did was fantastic.
“What Mbappé did in two years of professional football is amazing. He is a phenomenon and needs to be congratulated. As soon as I have the chance I will.”
Mbappe and Fabinho were teammates when Monaco won the 2017 French title and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.
However that Monaco side has been totally dismantled, with Mbappe, Bernardo Silva, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Benjamin Mendy now plying their trade in the Premier League. Fabinho is just the latest in a long list of former Monaco stars to seek success elsewhere.
