Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has admitted that he is trying to stop club star Eden Hazard from leaving the club this summer.
The Belgium attacker has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge with the most likely destination being in Spain with Real Madrid.
The Blues suffered from the Premier League title curse last season after winning the trophy under ex-manager Antonio Conte back in 2016/17. Chelsea finished fifth in the table and missed out on qualification to the Champions League.
With Hazard seeking regular European football, rumours have been constant regarding the talented forward’s departure from west London.
However, Spanish midfielder Fabregas is revealed that he is doing all he can to convince Hazard to stay at the club, highlighting that he is the club’s best player and that he is appreciated by the entire squad as just that.
Speaking to at a press conference (via Goal) Fabregas said: “I won’t lie, I speak to him, yes, I think he is our best player.
“I think Chelsea needs to keep their best players. We are a top club, we want to be a top team, we want to win things and for that you need your best players and Eden is one of them.
“He knows that everyone here loves him. The fans, the club, the players, and we need him.
“He knows that, that’s for sure. I don’t know what’s exactly in his mind.
“He’s a player that we all love to play with, especially me.
“It’s for the club and Eden to decide but for us he is the most important player and we want him to stay.”
