Kylian Mbappe is more professional than “YouTube footballer” Paul Pogba, says Eamon Dunphy

France and Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe is a “modest and sensible” person compared to his compatriot Paul Pogba, according to football pundit Eamon Dunphy.

Dunphy says he doesn’t care for Pogba’s antics off the pitch, which include enjoying a dance with his friends, posting videos of himself doing kickboxing training, and changing the colour of his hair – among other non-controversial activities.

It turns out that Dunphy has a lot more time for Mbappe, who has been celebrated for his philanthropy and perceived professionalism at the World Cup.

“He’s a modest and sensible person in contrast to Paul Pogba – all that messing around,” Dunphy said during a discussion on RTE.

“What Frank Lampard called the YouTube footballer, and it was a disparaging remark from Lampard.

“He’s very respected in the game, this fella [Mbappe] is different, he’s a professional, he’s a human being and I heard he’s given his match fees to disabled children.”

Dunphy went on to claim that football is “dying”, and pointed to what he sees as a lack of talent at the 2018 World Cup as proof.

The former Millwall midfielder added: “Football I think is dying. The lack of talent is noticeable at this World Cup really, but he is a sight that will make kids want to play and makes us old professionals feel happy to see somebody like that.”

Mbappe, Pogba and Co. will face Uruguay on Friday in their quarter-final tie after Les Bleus beat Argentina 4-3.
