Anthony Martial has been told by Manchester United teammate Ander Herrera that he can become “one of the best players in the world.”
The 22-year-old missed out on being a part of the French World Cup-winning squad after making just 18 league starts for the Red Devils last season.
However, Martial still managed nine league goals in that time and, despite struggling to assert himself during Jose Mourinho’s two years at the club, Herrera still thinks that his teammate belongs at United and could kick on next season.
Speaking after United’s 1-1 draw with Mexican side Club America, Herrera told Sky Sports News: “He’s very talented. He can be one of the best players in the world and I think he is very focused this season to smash it.”
Anthony Martial scored a goal once every 175.67 minutes in the Premier League in 2017/18; a better rate than any other Man Utd teammate to play at least 700 minutes.

Herrera has also been impressed with the way Martial has gone about his pre-season work so far, saying: “Now it’s all about work, confidence, about keep playing like he did today. I am confident with them because they are all amazing players and Anthony looks very sharp.”
Alexis Sanchez has now joined up with the United squad in the USA following visa issues – Martial will be hoping this doesn’t see himself dropped to the bench in favour of the Chilean international.
