Sweden take on Switzerland in the World Cup Round of 16 on Tuesday with Switzerland delighted to be avoiding the Germans who finished bottom of Group F.
Sweden were the only side to lose to Germany but still managed to top the group thanks to a narrow victory of South Korea and a convincing 3-0 thrashing of Mexico in the final group game.
That result will give the Swedes huge confidence heading into this clash but they face a Switzerland side that are undefeated not just during the group stage but also in the last 25 games. The last time the Swiss lost in 90 minutes was to England back in the Euro 2016 qualifiers – almost three years ago.

Sweden vs Switzerland Tip 1: Draw @ 2/1
Neither of these two sides are known for having a sole, reliable source of goals and both are extremely difficult to beat.
It is likely to be a war of attrition in this one with both sides playing a tentative style, trying to probe for an opening or wait for a set-piece opportunity.
During the group stage Switzerland drew two and won once, relying on a very late Xherdan Shaqiri to grab all three points against Serbia while Sweden’s success was based on a strong defence.
Both sides are hard to break down so this one could be decided in extra time or penalties.

Sweden vs Switzerland Tip 2: Both teams to score @ 6/5
Despite neither side having a stand-out striker they both scored in every game during the group phase.
Set-pieces are a weapon for the Swedes and Switzerland looked dangerous on the break, especially against Serbia where Shaqiri’s pace was a constant threat.
Although it is unlikely to be a high scoring affair, it would surprise no one to see them both get on the scoresheet.

Sweden vs Switzerland Tip 3: Under 2.5 goals @ 4/9
As mentioned in the points above neither side are particularly prolific while both being very strong at the back.
This match will likely be one more about work-rate than aesthetics so don’t expect too many goals.
They are pretty evenly matched which could see them cancel each other out for much of the contest, most likely leading to a stalemate.
That said, it appears likely that there will be some goals as players like Shaqiri for Switzerland and Forsberg for Sweden are capable of those little moments of magic that can prise open a defence – just don’t expect it to happen too often.
