“World class” Salah signs new five year deal with Liverpool

Liverpool have confirmed that star striker Mohammed Salah has put pen to paper on a new five year deal with the club.

This will be music to the ears for Liverpool fans after several weeks of speculation surrounding the Egyptians future.

There had been several reports that Real Madrid were considering a bid for the player but this new deal will end any interest the Spanish club may have had.

The new deal keeps Salah at the club until the summer of 2023 and, more importantly, it does not contain a release clause.

Salah has been a revelation since joining the Merseyside club putting to bed the idea that he was unable to play in the Premier League following a disappointing spell with Chelsea in 2014.

Last season, his first with Liverpool, saw Salah break the single-season Premier League scoring record with 32 goals in just 36 games. He was also a key player in the Reds journey to the Champions League final where they eventually fell to Real Madrid in Kiev.

Jurgen Klopp has expressed his delight with the new contract saying that Salah deserved to be rewarded with a better deal following his exploits last season.

“I think this news can be seen for what it is; rewarding a person who performed and contributed greatly for the team and the club last season,” said Klopp.

“We want world-class talent to see they have a home at Anfield where they can fulfil all their professional dreams and ambitions – we are working hard together to achieve this.

“When someone like Mo Salah commits and says this place is my home now, it speaks very loudly I think.

“Equally, our commitment to him says we see his value and want him to grow even more and get even better within our environment.”

Liverpool fans have formed a great relationship with Salah this season with several songs being noted for their inclusive nature and humour.

This bond may have been part of the reason the Egyptian striker jumped at the chance to extend his stay with the club and it has certainly gone down well with the fans.
