Promising England youngster Jadon Sancho has the capabilities to deal with the pressure that comes with playing for England according to Everton attacking Theo Walcott.
The 18-year-old was given a surprising yet throroughly deserving call-up by Gareth Southgate to join up with the first-team squad for their upcoming fixtures.
Plying his trade in Germany for Borussia Dortmund, Sancho has produced some highly impressive performances for the current Bundesliga table-toppers, including providing six assists for the German giants after just seven league games.
Playing infront of such imposing and vast crowds at Dortmund’s mightily impressive Westfalenstadion, Sancho has shown real maturity for such a young man, leading Everton forward Walcott to believe that the youngster has the ability to cope with the demands on international football.
“He can deal with it, he’s been in the Dortmund dressing room, he’s played at their stadium which is fantastic. He won’t be fazed at all,” said Walcott via Goal.
“It’s completely different now, there are a lot of young players in that group. When I came through there was Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard – completely established players in the team – so it’s a different environment I would say.
“Of course, it’s still daunting, but when you get down on the field and play football that’s all you want to do, you just want to play, it doesn’t matter who it’s for.
“You just want to go out there and do your best and I’m sure everyone will.
“The young players with England is fantastic to see and they’ve just got to take their chances. Good luck to them all.”
England face the prospect of competing in two Uefa Nations League matches against World Cup finalists Croatia and 2010 World Cup champions Spain which, should he feature, would see Sancho have a tough introduction on the international stage.
