The 10-man shortlist for the brand new Trophee Kopa has been released by France Football.
This new award is exclusively for players aged 21 and under and is named after the iconic French midfielder Raymond Kopa, a Ballon d’Or winner himself in 1958.
And, to add to the honour of being named as the best young footballer in the world, the jury that picks the award is made up of every Ballon d’Or winner still alive, including stellar names such as Lionel Messi, Franz Beckenbauer, Sir Bobby Charlton and Marco Van Basten.
The first presentation of this award will take place on December 3, with the list of nominees as follows:
Trent Alexander-Arnold (20) – Liverpool/England
Houssem Aouar (20) – Lyon/France
Patrick Cutrone (20) – AC Milan/Italy
Ritsu Doan (20) – Groningen/Japan
Gianluigi Donnarumma (19) – AC Milan/Italy
