Ramsey would be a great miss if he left Arsenal – Iwobi

Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi has admitted it would be a ‘great’ miss to the club if Aaron Ramsey were to leave.

Ramsey’s contract at the Gunners runs out at the end of the season, and both parties are yet to agree to a new deal.

As a result, the Welshman can talk with other clubs from January about a potential move away from Arsenal – where he has been since 2008 – with the Gunners likely to allow him to leave then to get some transfer fee.

But Iwobi is hoping the club and Ramsey can sort out a new deal, claiming all the players want the Welshman to stay.

“He’s a great player, especially when I was breaking into the first team,” he told BT Sport prior to Arsenal’s Europa League match against Qarabag.

“I always used to watch him, I still watch him to this day. I’m still learning things from him. It will be a great miss if he goes but hopefully he can stay.

“We all want him to stay, so hopefully that can get sorted.”

Since joining Arsenal from Cardiff 10 years ago, Ramsey has played 339 times for the Gunners in all competitions, scoring 59 goals and recording 59 assists.

In that time, the Welshman has won three FA Cups, scoring the winning goal in the 2014 and 2017 finals.

Aaron Ramsey’s start to the season

Despite some believing, Ramsey has not started the current season in the best form, the midfielder does come out well against his Arsenal team-mates for creativity.

Playing seven Premier League games so far, the Welshman has recorded a club-high two assists – though they both came in the same game as Arsenal beat Everton 2-0.

Those two assists have come from 11 chances created, more than any other Arsenal player, while Ramsey has also had the joint-most shots on target of any Gunners man (six).
