Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal: ‘I want to play in the Premier League’

Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal has admitted he wants to play in the Premier League at some point during his career.

The 26-year-old revealed that not experiencing the English top flight would be like ‘a thorn’ in his career if he were to miss out.

The Real Madrid academy product has been a stalwart in the Los Blancos side since returning from a season in the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen in 2012 and has been one of the players to help the side dominate Europe’s most coveted competition; the Champions League.

Carvajal has made over 130 La Liga appearances for Madrid but believes playing in the Premier League is an experience not to be missed.

Speaking to Libero magazine , he said he hopes to make the switch to England at some point.

“I would love to play in the Premier League,” he said when asked about his career objectives.

“It’s an experience I’d like to have and I do not want to end up with that thorn.”

Real Madrid won their third consecutive Champions League crown last season after beating Liverpool 3-1 in the final in Kiev and have won four out of the last five European Cups.

Following that win, the side lost star man Cristiano Ronaldo to Italian giants Juventus in a move worth over €100m but that, according to Carvajal, has not been a disaster for Los Blancos.

The right-back admitted that the side have changed their style somewhat and are now playing “more as a team.”

The season started well for the Whites as they won four out of their first five games to remain unbeaten but they have since struggled not winning any of their last three and failing to score in each of those.

They currently lie in fourth place in La Liga just one point behind city rivals Atletico with Levante up next at the Bernabeu.
