Sergio Ramos apologises after losing it in Real Madrid training

Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has apologised after losing his cool with young left-back Sergio Reguilón during training.

The Real captain was caught by cameras smashing a ball at his 21-year-old team-mate, twice, following an accidental collision during a game of handball.

The Spanish international was struck on the nose by the over-enthusiastic youngster’s shoulder during a routine training game, sparking the shocking reaction.

Ramos was seen not once but twice striking a ball against his teammate in anger following the incident causing outrage from fans on social media.

Los Blancos’ captain, however, released his own tweet apologising for the incident in a light-hearted manner.

The tweet read:

“Although it may not seem like it, they are quite common situations, but it is not an excuse, my reaction should not have been that.

“We always go full-on, right, Regui? In the end, team victory together.

“Done. On to tomorrow’s game.”

Who is Sergio Reguilón?

Sergio Reguilon is a 21-year-old left-back who came through the youth ranks at the club who he joined in 2005.

He spent time on loan at UD Logroñés where he scored eight goals in 39 appearances across two seasons.

Reguilon is yet to make an appearance for Los Blancos in La Liga but was part of the side that lost to CSKA Moscow in the Champions League earlier this season.

A reason for Ramos’ heightened frustration could be due to the poor start to the season.

Real have struggled in La Liga, winning just once in their last six games and none of their last four.

They have only managed to score three goals during that time and were on the end of another defeat this weekend when two first-half strikes were enough to see Levante leave the Santiago Bernabeu with a 2-1 win.

The result has left Real Madrid in seventh place, four points behind leaders Barcelona, who beat Sevilla 4-2 this weekend. Los Blancos play Plzen in the Champions League at home on Tuesday night as they look to bounce back from a 1-0 defeat to CSKA Moscow.

Madrid play Barcelona in their next La Liga fixture, the first El Clasico without Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo since December 2007, which Real Madrid won.
