Rio Ferdinand has dubbed teenage sensation Jadon Sancho as the most talented player England have “bar none”.
Sancho, who was previously a youth player with Watford and Manchester City, is setting the Bundesliga alight with some remarkable performances for Lucien Favre’s Borussia table-topping Dortmund.
The 18-year-old has begun the season in scintillating form, sitting atop the assist charts after providing seven goals for his teammates in just 296 minutes of league football.
A fellow south Londoner, Ferdinand has been particularly impressed with the England under-21 star and believes Sancho is equipped with everything he needs to become England’s best talent.
“He’s potentially the best talent we’ve got bar none,” Ferdinand said on BT Sport.
“He came from the same area as me so I know a lot about him. I know his dad; I’ve seen him play a fair bit.
“A lot of my mates are very close to him and the [Sancho’s] family. This kid is the truth. He’s got everything: skill, pace, tenacity, desire commitment, he gets goals – he’s the top assist man in Europe. “

Sancho was only 17 years old when he made the bold decision to leave Manchester City to head to Dortmund after he became disillusioned with his chances of breaking into Pep Guardiola’s world-class starting line-up.
Fast forward a year and the risk has paid dividends.

As a result of his sensational start to the season with Dortmund – and some consistent brilliance with England at youth level – Sancho has been called up to England’s senior squad by Gareth Southgate, becoming the first player born in the year 2000 to do so.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, reports this week have linked the teenager with a move to elite European sides such as Barcelona and Juventus, the former now home to a previous BVB prodigy in Ousmane Dembélé.
However, Dortmund have described their No.7 as “one of the most exciting players in Europe” and the 18-year-old prodigy seems content in Germany having just penned a new contract, extending his stay with the club until 2022.
